28 Januari 2008 | Malawi, Blantyre
Finally we have found a place in Malawi with internet access, So as you can see we made it all the way to Blantyre, in Southern Malawi.
From the foot of mighty Kilimanjaro, we descended back to sea level. We spend a couple of nights (and days) on Zanzibar Island; really amazing beaches with 'virgin white' sand and turquoize blue sea. It was very romantic and we had a couple of nice dinners right on the beach. After this, we left paradise and made our way down to Mbeya, on the border with Malawi. For the first time since we're in Africa, we took a train; and we loved it! We spend a whole day and night on track, but the scenery was so cool! We crossed a National Park and saw giraffes, impala's & other animals through our train window. After the bushtrain we crossed into Malawi, where we spend a couple of days chilling out at the lake. We spend the night in a tree and enjoyed Malawese daily life. We hopped on the ferry, which brought us to the Southern shores of the lake. We spend 3 days (!) on this boat, but it was a lot of fun. We saw lots of fisherman at work and met some other travellers. Two of these other travellers offered us a ride to Blantyre. Via a good hike and a pottery we arrived here before the weekend. We had planned to do some hiking last weekend, so we went to Mt. Mulanje. But, bad luck for us, it rained like hell!!(rainy season :) ). So it was too dangerous to ascend such a steep mountain. So instead of climbing, we spend the weekend relaxing on foot of the mountain. Today, we came back to Blantyre, where we are at the moment. Tomorrow, if everything works out, we are going to cross into Mozambique.
We keep you updated.....
